Tzeggai Yohannes Deres

Tzeggai Yohannes Deres came to the UK as a refugee in 1986. He has been the Director of the Evelyn Oldfield Unit since its inception in 1994. He worked as a team leader of the community Development Team of the Refugee Council. He comes from a Science background, but most of his experience revolved around politics, the Human Rights movement, management, training and community and social development. He is a qualified community and youth worker.
Over the last sixteen years he has served on a number of organisations’ management committees, including multi-faith, Refugee Agency, Consortium of Opportunities for Volunteering, Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust and currently represents Evelyn Oldfield Unit on the National Refugee Integration Forum chaired by the Home Office.
