Ingrid was educated at L.S.E. and Manchester University. She originally worked in educational psychology in England and America. She then switched to criminology and spent a number f years working as a psychologist in the Prison Service. Her subsequent Home Office career spanned policy development in fire prevention, policing, suicide prevention and the inspection of the criminal justice system. She now acts as an independent assessor in the recruitment and promotion of civil servants.
