Employability is an initiative of the City Parochial Foundation and a number of RCO and Refugee agencies. It was established as a registered charity in 2001. Employability exists to provide practical help to qualified professionals from refugee communities in Britain.

The Unit was established in 1994 by a consortium of funding bodies and agencies which work with refugeecommunity organisations, including City Parochial Foundation, Thames Telethon, London Borough Grants (now the Association of London Government), the Refugee Working Party and the Refugee Council. The aim is to develop specialist support for refugee organisations to enable them to adequately tackle the pressing needs of the communities they serve.
